Indoor ranges concentrate lead aerosol from primer detonation. Long-term exposure is genuinely harmful, and the protective measures are simple.
Before:
- Choose a range with documented HEPA ventilation if you can.
- Wear clothing you don't mind laundering immediately afterward.
During:
- Don't eat, drink, or smoke at the firing line.
- Avoid touching your face.
After:
- Wash hands and forearms with cold water and soap (cold water keeps your pores closed).
- Change clothes before sitting in your car or on furniture.
- Throw your range clothing in the wash separately from family laundry.
