Indoor ranges concentrate lead aerosol from primer detonation. Long-term exposure is genuinely harmful, and the protective measures are simple.

Before:

• Choose a range with documented HEPA ventilation if you can.
• Wear clothing you don't mind laundering immediately afterward.

During:

• Don't eat, drink, or smoke at the firing line.
• Avoid touching your face.

After:

• Wash hands and forearms with cold water and soap (cold water keeps your pores closed).
• Change clothes before sitting in your car or on furniture.
• Throw your range clothing in the wash separately from family laundry.
