Welcome to your first FST lesson. There are four rules that every responsible gun owner internalizes - they are non-negotiable, and they are the same whether you're at a range, in your home, or carrying.
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
Even if you just unloaded it. Even if you're certain. The brain that gets sloppy is the brain that has an accident.
Rule 2: Never point a firearm at anything you are not willing to destroy.
Muzzle awareness is the difference between a near-miss and a tragedy. This includes during cleaning, dry-fire practice, and pictures.
Rule 3: Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target and you have decided to fire.
Your trigger finger lives along the frame, not inside the trigger guard.
Rule 4: Know your target and what is beyond it.
Bullets do not stop at the target. Walls, doors, and pets are not safe backstops.
When you can recite these from memory, you've earned this lesson.
